St Clare's is a co-educational, international, residential college for students aged 16+ in Oxford, founded in 1953. Constituted as a non-profit making Charitable Trust, the College is an independent academic institution in Oxford enjoying the facilities of the city, with the aim of promoting international understanding.
St Clare's combines high academic expectations with considerable personal freedom, in an informal atmosphere.
It offers three major academic programmes to a total student body of around 350. About 40 nationalities are represented with around one third of the students being British or American.
The INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE is a two year pre-university course leading to the IB Diploma, for entry to all British and most other universities worldwide. American universities award credit for IB qualifications. The broad programme educates the whole person and includes the study of 6 subjects, a course in critical thinking, personal research and engagement in non-academic activities. St Clare's is one of the leading IB institutions in the world with around 90 diploma candidates each year. A one year pre IB preparatory programme is also available.
Our FOUNDATION YEAR is a one year course leading to entry into selected British universities for students with good high school leaving qualifications.
The LIBERAL ARTS programme is for college and university students from the USA, Europe and other countries who wish to supplement their university programmes with a semester or year of study in Britain.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSES for overseas students of 4 - 48 weeks are offered, leading to all principal examinations. (2-4 weeks during the summer)
Also Offered: ENRICHMENT YEAR between school and university; EUROPEAN ADVANCED STUDIES PROGRAMME combining English language with American university level courses.
